The coarse 220 grit water stone removes material quickly – ideal for restoring primary cutting bevels and initial back flattening. The 1200 grit side of the combination waterstone replaces the scratch pattern with a fine, misted finish that can easily be polished to a bright mirror shine with the 8000 grit side. There’s a 12,000 superfine grit synthetic Nagura dressing stone to rejuvenate the 8000 grit surface and restore its cutting performance, a roll of drywall screen for flattening your water stones, a thin washable rubber mat that provides grip without being too squidgey and 250ml Shield Technology HoneRite Gold (sufficient to make 6 litres of water non-corrosive). This waterstone kit is designed to give acceptable results for day to day sharpening with the flexibility to add other waterstones later if necessary.
